Planning for spring It may seem premature to plan for spring when we still have not even had a frost, but planning and preparation will help to keep the garden running smoothly.
Tomato Season The tomatoes have been ripening quickly, and we have at least a bushel that we will be taking to Fresh Food Thursday this week. The green beans have also taken off.
Looking forward to Fall This week in the garden we had our best harvest yet! Over 159 pounds of produce were given away at the Fresh Food Thursday event bringing the total amount from the garden to 460 pounds.
Helping folks get access to locally grown produce At the garden this week, we have had amazing harvests of tomatillos, tomatoes, squash, peas, and much more. We are still working on the hoop house and keeping the weeds down with the help of our wonderful volunteers. We won't let the heat get us down!
300 pounds and counting! This week the garden donated 111 pounds of produce to the campus food pantry. The garden has now produced 303 pounds of food, around 15% of our 2,000-pound goal. The season's first tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, and peas were huge hits.
