Spring has finally arrived, and we are working hard at the GRIT Garden! With the help of some very dedicated volunteer groups and classes, we already have our first crops in the ground. Our brassicas: broccoli, cauliflower, and bok choi were started in the greenhouse and transplanted last week. The carrots and radishes were started by seed and should start to germinate at any time.

Bok Choi planted in the GRIT Garden.

This Thursday, we need volunteers willing to get dirty by digging our North beds. When we began last year, we started with a 12-inch walkway between each bed. Over the course of the year, we decided it was a lot easier to get between the beds with a little more space. So we decided that we would have a 19-inch walkway instead. This did cost a slight sacrifice in growing space, but we feel the ease and increased safety of having more accessible walkways will more than makeup for it.

We look forward to seeing you on the 27th between 2 and 6pm!
